One
of the most elusive and complex directors of all time, Antonioni's key
themes were social displacement and urban alienation. He sought to rid
himself of the formal techniques of cinema to come closer to human feeling and this approach was quite successful in capturing the spirit of a generation, in films like Blow-Up or Zapriskie Point, but less in others... Coincidentally, we lost this great director only a day after another master, Ingmar Bergman. |
